 Humax 5350 Vaci:how to upgrade?
Being a total newbie here,I hope u can show me how to update the 5350,and which is the latest. At the moment, it looks like this:HW-version: OAK II-L 2.0
SW version: HOVC 1.00.07
Unity (enheds in danish)-driver version: DOVC 1.00.07
SW latest update: 26 OCT 2000
Loader version: H 5.04 (0060.0600)
It's in danish language.
The last update, from the old owner, was with the HOVC10007NP+ToH11.hdf. Can I use a later version of the ToH-files?
I have a 100 cm motordriven dish (DisecQ)
I would like someone to show me how to use the different tools available, for example updating the sat-names, the positions, the program-lists,decoding,etc.
Can I use all the stuff for the 5400-sets?
Hope someone can help me.I was very much into the old D2MAC-scene,but have been away for 10 years, and hope someone here can guide me in this brave new world. I'm interested in watching all european stations,as I've lived all over the place, and would like to follow life in these countries. Also the interaction between Pc and sat interests me.I have a TV-card with the BT 848 or 878-chip.I have connected the PC and the Hummie 5350 with a null-modem cable.
Hope to hear from you. Friendly greets from Denmark..

Hi mitscha,
unfortunatly I dont know so much VACI-5350 model which has been used and updated recently for Nordic NDS.
You can find here all firmwares for your model (just look at lower part of web-page which is proper for 5350)
http://www.humax-zone.tv/index.php?page=5300_firmware
You can find more help about your model here
http://tv.groups.yahoo.com/group/humax_nordic/

 Humax 5350,Vaci:how to upgrade?
Hi 'CrazySat', thx a ton for your fast reply...the 2nd link u send me was completely new 2 me, & this after scouring the net for everything to do with a 5350! It was a great help to see what kinds of software there is for my STB...
I'm still hoping for an answer to the ? whether I can use the software for the 5400 for my box. I have an idea, that they're the same, hardware-wise, xcept the 5350 is for Vi**cess, & the 5400 is for Ir**to or S**a, or the other encrypters used mostly in Europe, & less here in Scandinavia....

Hi mitscha,
I hope you can find some more news to that nordic forum
Anyway you can't use ToH/HoT firmware on VACI-5350 because it has no Irdeto chip SAS004 like only IRCI-5400 has.

 Humax 5350 Vaci:how to upgrade
thx again...
Too bad abt the chip..
now,I hope you'll be patient with me! As I said, I've been surfing a lot, but some really basic things I still don't understand:
I have installed the HOVC10007NP+ToH11-in5350-05-06.hdf,and it gave me a much nicer GUI than before, even informing me when the motor has to turn to find a sender.
Now, this is called ToH11. What exactly does these HoT/ToH-progs do/enable? Is this the part that gives the nice GUI with a picture behind the menu's?
I tried to update to a HIC10500_ToH33_HoT69.hdf, but it said "wrong ID", although it was supposed to be for the 5350. What does this mean?
Then I found OVC10805.hdf but that simply gave me back the old, boring GUI,with no appearant changes from the really old one.
So is the diff in layout lie in the name HOVC (=new layout w/ pic-background & center window, where the menu is), OVC (=old black/green layout) and HIC (=which gives an error. Maybe I need to load smthng first?)?
Where cld I find a HOWTO abt all these different tricks & possibilities?
Greets again from rainy Denmark...

Hi mitscha,
all old firmwares patched by ToH Team with their RS232 serial COM plugin ToH1.1 are to enable a serial comunication between your box and your PC using some proper tools:
Humax Remote Control VACI-5350
http://www.humax-zone.tv/index.php?page=5300_tools
As I told you before, you can't use any firmware for IRCI on your VACI-5350
So you can't use, regardless from sysID errror, also the firmware HIC10500_ToH33_HoT69.hdf you attempted to send to your box.
Please be aware, that by loading a wrong boot loader, you can kill your stb as well.
As for all firmwares for 5350, since they are only used in a restricted country area (Scandinavian countryes) you can only be helped by other owner of 5350 maybe on the other forum I gave you

Hi mitscha,
the nest model of IRCI-5400 is in my opinion a "Z" model with H2.08 boot loader already (main board OAK-II and MK3 Tuner model).
It has stronger built PSU and increased RAM if compared to "old" model (6Mb DRAM against 4Mb).
IRCI-5400Z Users Manual
http://www.humax-zone.tv/index.php?page=5400_docs
Please before purchase be 100% sure to have already H2.08 boot loader and not original ZIC loader otherway you can't send any HDF file unless you own a proper hardware device, Z-Board and it would no worth.
You can find here many posting about IRCI-5400
You can find also at my own Forum http://www.humax-zone.tv/forum/

Got my new 5400, wuz:Humax 5350,Vaci:how to upgrade
Hi again, got my 5400, with these specs:
Opening, and looking inside, I see:
OAK II-L CPU B/D REV 4.1,
with card reader SMART B/D 9 rev 1.3
The larger chip is SAA 7219 HS
Smaller chip near tuner: TDA 8044 AH
IR**TO-chip:SAS004.
On the boot-window I see:
H/W-version: OAK I&II 2.1
S/W-version HIC1.05.00+
Unit driver version: HIC1.05.00+
Loader version: H 2.08
System ID: 0016.0600
Underneath it says: +CAM TuningsOn Humax 3.3.
Right, so first: can I dive straight in and update to the ToH3.4_HoT7.4.hdf ?
Secondly, cld you point me to a sort of vocabulary that explains a newbie as myself all those terms like PMC,and what to do with all the different files, one can find on the net.I've trawled through the fora, and am still very unsure about what to do.
Thx again...
Friendly greets mitscha

As for the other questions, you can have a good search at this forum or at my forum
http://www.humax-zone.net and you fill find many postings able to give answers to your questions

Please report here exact Tuner model: you can read it on a white paper lable sticked over the chrome little box where you connect from outside dish sat-cable.
I need to know if it is MK3 or D1278 LVA-3 instead

So your model is OAK-II + Tuner MK3: sysID 0016.0600 Boot loader H2.08
It is an IRCI-5400/Z but not a + "plus" model
